Industrial Edge
Siemens Industrial Edge is a platform that enables companies to analyse and utilise their production data directly on-site – that is, at the machines – without having to transfer everything to the cloud first. This allows processes to be optimised more quickly, ensures sensitive data remains protected, and enables companies to easily add new functions using ready-made apps. Centralised management software also allows them to keep track of all the devices and applications in use. In short: Industrial Edge makes factories smarter, more flexible and more efficient.
Siemens Industrial Edge is an open, modular platform for industrial edge computing applications.
The benefits
of local data processing (edge) combined with the flexibility of the cloud
- Close to the machine: Data is processed directly on industrial edge devices – without the need to transfer large volumes of data to external systems.
- Flexibility through apps: Siemens and partner apps are available via the Industrial Edge Hub and can be centrally distributed to and managed on devices via Industrial Edge Management.
- Secure integration: Edge devices can be integrated into existing automation environments and linked to cloud platforms such as MindSphere or other IT systems.
- Scalable and open: The architecture supports open standards (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, OPC UA, MQTT) and is equally suited to small setups and large, distributed production networks.
